A lot of what is sold as spice is not what the label says. Here is how we check, and how you can too.

Read the ingredient list

A good blend has a short list. If you see fillers, colour or words you don't know, leave it.

Look for small batches

Ground spice loses its aroma with time. Spices ground in small batches reach you fresher than ones that sat in a warehouse.

Check your saffron

Fake saffron is common. Safflower, corn silk and even horse hair get dyed and sold as saffron. Put a few threads in warm water. Real saffron gives its colour slowly and the threads stay red.

Store it right

Keep spices in an airtight jar, away from heat and sunlight.

What we make

Three things, and we keep it that way: Hyderabad Biryani Masala, Hyderabadi Garam Masala, and Kashmir Saffron from a farm in Pampore. Real ingredients, small batches, honest pricing.
